Last Sweater for the Year

Hey Everyone!

Yesterday I finished sewing up a size 6 sweater that I have been working on for the past month or so. For this sweater I used a Caron One Pound Skein of yarn in Jonquil. Weird name for a color, I know, but that’s what it is called.

I wanted something easy to work on as well as a more complicated project I have going. Beings that it was the project I could just pick up and work on, I worked on it more, thus completing it, while the more complicated lace project just sits. That I have to change as I need to get it done before Christmas. It is hard at the same time now that I am working full time and all I want to do when I get home is watch some vlogs and catch up on shows on Hulu and veg out.

It was nice to be productive while being busy and not as inclined as I have been at times to throw myself full force into knitting. This year has been a year where I have taken time to take care of my own needs, and I have still knit. I have just taken the time to explore other interests shoe also had 2 different jobs at different points in the year.

Getting as much done as I can

Hey Everyone!

For the last few days, I have been trying to get as much done as I can before I begin my new job. I still have most of a skein of the fishermen’s wool that I am letting sit for a bit, so I can focus on getting my mom’s Christmas gift before Christmas. I also have a knit for kids sweater in progress, so that I can have 7 sweaters done this year, bringing my cumulative sweater count to 65.

While my new job has nothing to do with knitting, or what I went to college for, I am excited for it. It is a step in the right direction, for gaining much needed paid work experience, resume building, getting my college loans paid off, and for the potential for other doors to be opened down the road.

I am glad that I got my friend’s Christmas gift completed here a month or two ago. It is one less thing for me to try to get done before Christmas with going to work as well.

Huge Thank You to my Followers

Hey Everyone!

I just wanted to say Thank You, to all of you who read my blog. It means a lot to me. When I started this blog, I just wanted to share what I was doing, with even a handful of people, but it has grown to much more than that. I never would have thought that I would reach 50 blog followers, and I have passed that. I wouldn’t have even thought that I would have 25 likes on my Facebook page, and I now have over 40. It is all because of the support you all have given me.

I know I would still be blogging even without all of you who follow my blog, but it makes it so much more worthwhile to have readers. Having a following also brings responsibility, to write new posts about what I am working on, and working with.

Season For Wool

Hey Everyone!

This past week I have been working on more Wool Winter Wear for myself, I have been using on the fishermen’s wool in Oatmeal that I have had for a bit. I have so far completed a pair of fingerless gloves, as well as a slouchy beanie, which I am kind of excited about. I will talk about why in a bit. I still have a fair amount left, which I am planning on using for a scarf and another pair of fingerless gloves.

I am super excited about the hat, because I figured out how to do the knit in the round crown decrease while knitting the hat flat, on straight needles. Yes I realize I rhymed in the last sentence….I like the way the decreasing looks on this this hat. Once I get my projects with this yarn completed, I will take a picture and post it to share with you all.

While I was at the mall with my mom, we were walking though JCPenney, and we were looking at the sweaters, I was more specifically looking at the patterns used in the different sweaters. I know that I only spent 5.5 months working at the studio, but between that and what I know how to do by hand, looking at other knit garments, hand knit or machine knit, to see how they are made. Knitwear, and to an extent fashion in general are definitely things I am interested in. I know I definitely have more of a casual/country style. Until recently I wasn’t really into fashion, but it has been growing on me.
