First Fall Sweater

Hey Evetyone!

I finally got the size 8 sweater that I had been working on here lately finished up. I completed it here this past Monday. I meant to blog about it yesterday, but here I am, getting to it on Wednesday night. Better late than never right?

For this sweater I used all red heart super saver yarn. The brown is called Coffee, the Orange is Carrot, the Green is Tea Leaf and the yellow is Gold. I pretty well used up the coffee, though I have plenty of the other three colors left that I will be using in another sweater.
Getting knitting projects is more difficult beings that I am working. This year I will be doing good to get 6 or 7 sweaters done. There was one year when I didn’t have a full time job that I had completed like 17 sweaters. The way I see it is that even 6 or 7 sweaters means that 6 or 7 kids will be kept warm.

Knitting Socks

Hey everyone!

I finished the first sock in my first pair of socks last night. I got the second sock of the pair started today.

My first sock turned out amazingly for the first try. I am hoping that with practice,  that it will get easier and I will get better at it.

I know I could just buy socks but it is more fun to try to make my own socks. I know it is more expensive and time consuming to make my own, but I like learning new things.

Knitting Socks!

Hey Everyone!

I am in the process of knitting my first sock. I am pretty proud of myself right now. I am also learning how to knit in the round with double pointed needles while I am at it. I figure I might as well go all in if I am going to do it.

I tried knitting socks once before and gave up at picking up the gusset after turning the heel. This time I kept at it and finally got it, and now I am knitting the foot part of the sock. Once I finish this sock I will knit its mate, which should be easier beings that I have gotten the hang of it with this first one.

I was ready to learn how to knit socks. My mom asked me “why would you want to knit socks when you can buy socks at the store that are already made?” My response was pretty much something between “why not?” And “because I can”. I am of the mind that why should I buy something when I can make it for myself. I am not saying I won’t ever buy more socks, I am just saying that now that I l ow how to make them, I can make myself boot socks and socks that are loos enough that I can layer over the thin little ones I buy at the store.

Knitting is one of the things I am very passionate about. I keep expanding on my skills as I get comfortable with the last thing I learned.

Knitting is something that has come easily to me, I don’t why but it has. It took me until after I was done with college to really  dive in, and have it take off but it has and I love it. If I am sitting I am at a loss and feel like something is missing if I am not knitting.

Chunky Winter Scarf

Hey Everyone!

This evening I finished up a chunky winter scarf I have been working on for a little while.

I had used Lion Brand Yarn Wool Ease Thick and Quick yarn in Crimson. It turned out really pretty.

I am not a super huge fan of chunky scarves on me, but I am wanting to move someplace that gets cold in the winter so I am just adding to my stash of winter accessories.
