Spring yarn shopping

Hi Everyone!

Happy Saturday!

Today I had gone out and about, which included yarn shopping, it just happened that way. I had gone to my favorite yarn store – happy knits, as well as Yarnia.

At happy knits I bought more canopy fingering yarn by the fiber company.  In this really pretty sea blue (official color name: tanager). I plan to make a second Petit Pont scarf (pattern by: The Irish Girlies)

I also bought some lace yarn, which is made of 100% baby merino wool. Brand: Malabrigo, color: Tuareg. I am not sure about what I am going to use it for yet.

I ended up at Yarnia which isn’t super far from Happy Knits where I bought a ten ounce merino cone of pale purple and grey to make a shawl out of. I being in Yarnia around all the cones of yarn reminded me of when I worked at the studio, and being around all the cones of Cashmere.

I hate a lot in the way of natural colors, blues and pinks, but I really don’t have much on purple or grey and the two together went together so well. I am planning on making a shawl with some of it.

I have a lot of winter garments, and have plans (and yarn) for a few more, but I am trying to add some lighter weight stuff for when the weather is a bit warmer but still want a little something.

Wool Winter Hat for a friend

Hey Everyone!

Last night I finished up the hat I have been working on for a good friend of mine.

For Christmas 2014 I had made her a scarf and a pair of fingerless gloves, so she wanted a hat to complete the set.

For her hat I used about half a skein of Patons Classic Wool Worsted in natural mix, and I used my size 7 clover bamboo needles to knit up the hat.

I had made a run out to Astoria and the neighboring towns of Warrenton ad Hammond and had gone to the JoAnn’s out there. I had wanted to see it in comparison to the JoAnn’s that is near where I live and compare the two. I had wanted to go to the coast so it was the perfect opportunity to go out to that Joann’s and get yarn for my friends hat while I was there.

I had also decided to use the seed stitch / British Moss Stitch to add some texture and to make some of the stitches pop, for accent.
As crazy as life is at the moment, and with as much as I have going on, hats are easy and quick to knit up, I got this hat done in less than a week.

When Knitting is what you do

Hey Everyone!

This past weekend I finished up the falling leaves wrap I had been working on for a while. I had used Patons Lace yarn in teal.

I know I have been asked why I knit for myself and how am I going to wear it all. I am knitting every I can, as I am wanting to move somewhere with real winters. I also like pretty hand knit garments.

About a month ago I had gone yarn shopping for my birthday and I had picked up a couple of different types of yarn, one of which I had also purchased a pattern that I wanted to use the pink yarn for. Beings that I had finished my falling leaves wrap I finally am able to start using my birthday yarn. When I was starting the scarf I had to restart it several times to get the pattern going right.

For this scarf I am using the Fibre Company Canopy Fingering yarn in Dragonfruit
