Knitting keeps me Sane

Hey Everyone!

I am in my eighth week back to work after being furloughed for four months. There have been a lot of changes at work since I have been back, and it has been stressful.

I am definitely thankful I can come home at the end of my shift, shower, get food, watch a movie or TV show, have a cup of tea, and Knit. The tea and the knitting are the most important things. They help me recenter and they definitely help me calm down and relax. I have been working on socks for so long, they have become pretty mindless to work on, besides turning the heel and knitting the toe. That mindless, working with my hands and fiber is relaxing.

Part of my job now is having to work with customers, for over two years my position rarely, as in I could count on one hand the times, required me to be customer facing. It’s hard for me, being an introvert, especially since I am stock crew, and I chose my position and role for a reason. I generally know where things that come out of boxes go, how to unload a semi trailer of freight, build fixtures and furniture, but not if we have certain items or the proper names for things or skus, or whats on sale.

In the past seven weeks, I have definitely learned that if I work another retail job after this, I will definitely be looking for something more focused, and in areas I have an interest in, and ideally for a smaller / independent / mom and pop type shop, where the product knowledge is focused and something I have a love for (yarn, books, tea, bakery, you get the picture).

I also really want to live in a coastal climate, living in SE Alaska would be a dream come true if it happened. I am a cold weather person, and I would love to use all my hand knit projects more.

I know I have not been posting consistently here, and I am wanting to post more often, and about a variety of things that are knitting related.

If anyone has made it this far & follows my blog, are there any knitting / yarn / crafting related topics you would like to see me post about, please leave me a comment on this post.
