Love helping children

Hey Everyone!

I have made a bit of progress on my size 10 knit for kids sweater. I am about 3 inches away from casting on sleeves on the front of my sweater.

I still love knitting garments for kids in need, that has not changed. The kids I knit for are important to me. This year I have been working on more personal projects, because I also want cute knitwear for myself. If you have been reading my blog for any length of time now you will know I knit almost as many sweaters last year as I did in the first decade I had made sweaters. Helping children living in poverty is something I love doing, it is right up there with being outdoors and going on adventures.

Rose Sweater

Hey Everyone!

This week I have continued working on the size 8 sweater I am working on using a Caron one pound skein of yarn in Rose. As of writing this post I am about half way up working on the sleeves of the front. I am continuing the braided cable up into the sleeves, and it will go until about 5 rows from the top.

I know that the order of what sizes I have been making don’t make a lot of sense. I am mainly trying to knit up a lot more size 6, 8 and 10 sweaters, because I currently only have 12 size 6 sweaters complete, and 11 of each size 8 and 10 sweaters complete where as I have 14 of each size 2 and 4 complete (these numbers are from when I started knitting sweaters until now). I am trying to get my total numbers of each size evened out, so then from there I can make sets (for which there would be one of each size).

For those of you who read my blog regularly, would you be interested in seeing a video on YouTube (in addition to the weekly charity knitting Monday blog post) about each sweater once I get it completed?

Made it to Sleeves

Hey Everyone!

Over the weekend I made a fair amount of progress on the size 6 knit for kids sweater I am currently working on. I finally got sleeves going on the front, and beings that I knit the body pieces for the back and front at the same time I now have the body pieces done, and now I just get to work on sleeves. I learned the knitting the body pieces at the same time trick a while back. If you want me to write a post on how to knit the body pieces at the same time, leave me a comment on this post please.

Beings that my current personal project takes a lot more focus and concentration it is nice to have a simpler project to work on when there are other things going on. I am also trying to get this sweater done, so I can reduce the number of projects I have going on at one time. I am trying to simplify my life, and pair it down to a personal project, a charity project and a purse project going at one time.

Taking a Short Break…

Hey Everyone!

Like the title mentioned, I am taking a short break, from my knitting projects for kids in need. I love these projects which is why I am taking a break from them. I have recently started to feel that burn out was coming, and to avoid that, I am taking some time to knit things for myself.

Knitting items for children in need has consumed my life, as I had thrown myself into these projects, for most of the last four years, and I just need some time to make some changes in my life, find a job, and knit some things for myself that I put on the back burner for the projects for kids in need.

Trust me when I say, that I am not going to quite knitting items for children in need, as that is where my heart is. I am just taking some time for myself, and to take care of some of my own needs, so I can bring my focus back to, and bring the passion/fire back to the projects I work on, and advocating these projects.

For the next few weeks I will for sure have up my Personal Project Tuesday posts, and my Pattern Friday Posts. There will still be posts for you all to read, and I will work to keep up my Thursday Tip posts, but I am not going to promise that there will be one every week.
