Knitting, Whats on the Needles Wednesday

Reasonable Work Load

Hey Everyone!

This week I am finally down to two regular projects (a personal and a charity project) and a purse project, as I took the blanket off the needles as I would not have had enough yarn to finish it without buying more, and I already have enough yarn as it is, so I just wound the yarn into a ball and I plan to use it for hats.

Being back to two main projects is much more reasonable. My Falling Leaves scarf is the project which is allowing me to challenge myself and learn more, while making something for myself. The knit for kids sweater I am working on gives me something to pick up and work on while I am sitting at the computer working on blog posts, or a vlog, or just watching vlogs.

As I make progress on my current projects I love being able to be as creative as I am, and would love to be able to do more, especially once I get my own place, with decorating and such.

Answering the Call to Knit

Hey Everyone!

Welcome to another Charity Project Monday post. Since I completed my last sweater this past Thursday I started another size 6 sweater. Since starting this latest sweater, I have made it to the front sleeves.

For the sweater that I am currently working on, I am using Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Aruba Blue and Calliope. I had purchased this yarn at my local Joann Fabric and Craft Superstore. I love the yarn selection this store has.

I work on sweaters for kids in need, because it is the passion, talent, ministry, and call that has been put on my life, to be used to do something to help those in need. Helping the poor is something each of us should do, I love being able to use knowing how to knit to do something constructive with my life, and I also love being able to blog about it, and share it with you all through my blog, facebook and ravelry. I know that knitting for kids in need will always be a part of my life.

Sweater Update

Hey Everyone!

I just wanted to let you know that I completed my size 6 knit for kids sweater this evening. Pictures are up on Facebook (in the 2014 sweaters album), Ravelry and Instagram.

For this sweater I used some bernat yarn in true periwinkle blue, and some old red heart yarn in peach and lemon.

This Week I am Knitting

Hey Everyone!

This week I am still working on the baby blanket, the size 6 knit for kids sweater, the falling leaves wrap, and the dish cloth. I have been making the most progress this week on the sweater and the wrap. I spent a good share of the weekend working on the sweater, and I am on the sleeves of the back. The baby blanket is just sitting as I have been focusing on the wrap and the sweater this week.

I love the feeling of accomplishment when I am getting a project close to being done, or get one going that is more complicated and seeing it grow. This falling leaves wrap I am proud of how far I have gotten and that I am getting the hang of the pattern. It is going to be really pretty when it is done. Perseverance is important in learning something new.

Getting yourself out of your comfort zone and trying new things is important, and accomplishing difficult tasks is reassuring and builds on what you already know.

I am definitely making progress on my current knitting projects, and I love getting stuff done.

Made it to Sleeves

Hey Everyone!

Over the weekend I made a fair amount of progress on the size 6 knit for kids sweater I am currently working on. I finally got sleeves going on the front, and beings that I knit the body pieces for the back and front at the same time I now have the body pieces done, and now I just get to work on sleeves. I learned the knitting the body pieces at the same time trick a while back. If you want me to write a post on how to knit the body pieces at the same time, leave me a comment on this post please.

Beings that my current personal project takes a lot more focus and concentration it is nice to have a simpler project to work on when there are other things going on. I am also trying to get this sweater done, so I can reduce the number of projects I have going on at one time. I am trying to simplify my life, and pair it down to a personal project, a charity project and a purse project going at one time.

Whats On The Needles?

Hi Everyone!

In addition to the baby blanket and the wool wrap that I have in progress, and have talked about in my last two posts, I also have a dishcloth and a Knit for Kids sweater in the works.

The sweater has kind of just been sitting lately as I work on these other projects. I know I have talked about in the past that I can effectively only have 2 (not counting the purse project) knitting projects in the works, and if I have anymore (like the sweater) it just sits until I complete one of the other projects.

The dishcloth is technically my purse project, I spent some time working on it over the weekend, after I had bruised my tailbone (its still bruised but it is doing better), and it hurt too much to sit upright for more than 30 minutes. It was something that I could still work on while I was laying down. It was hard for me to just be laying there doing pretty much nothing for a few days, just because it hurt to much to sit.

I likely wouldn’t have started the wrap if I hadn’t needed to pull the second skein of Nature’s brown fishermen’s wool out of the bucket to finish the shawl I had been working on and finished. I then made a slouchy hat, and I am now just trying to get the skein used up, so that I don’t have to put it away. I don’t like having to make room for skeins that I have pulled out of somewhere. I also figure that if I can get this wrap done, I can wash the darker woolens that I have, especially the ones I used this past winter. I know I don’t have to wash them very often, I just want to wash them before I put them away for the season.

I also have several big skeins of 3 ply sport baby yarn that I want to get used up for baby blankets. I don’t want to have to buy more plastic tubs for storing the yarn. This is what I have going on right now.

What’s on my Needles Wednesday

Hey Everyone!

This week I am still working on the sweater, the baby blanket and dish cloth that I talked about in last weeks post. I did get the hat reknit and completed this past week.

This past week I started a Celtic Knot infinity scarf for myself, using lion brand fishermen’s wool in nature’s brown which is what I had left over from finishing my latest wool shawl and hat for myself. I love working with Fishermen’s Wool, and it is my favorite yarn for personal use that is easily obtained to the general public in craft stores here in the States.

As the weather is getting warmer I am trying to get my wool projects done, so that they will be done in time for next fall and winter.

I have also been working steadily on the baby blanket so I can get that done.  I want to get the sweater done, don’t get me wrong on that. I am just trying to get all the baby weight sport yarn that I have used up and made into projects to make more room for myself. I am also trying to get as many baby blankets as I can, so that I have them done.

Project of the Week

Hey Everyone!

This week, i have continued to work on the size 10 sweater that i have in progress. As of writing this post I am more than half way done with the body of the sweater.

I have gotten a fair amount of work done on this sweater today, beings that I did not have work today, and I could stay home and work on it. I am hoping to get it done by the end of the month.

Starting the New Year off Right

Hey Everyone!

I am back with another project of the week! I have started a size 10 sweater, using a skein of Lion Brand Pound of Love yarn in Lavender. I decided to get another sweater going, so that I have something to pick up and work on when I have the time. I love working on projects that go to children in need, and benefit children in need.

This sweater is going to take me a bit since I don’t have the free time like I used to, but I will hopefully be getting it done by the end of January!

Working on my 16th Sweater

Hey Everyone!

This week’s Project of the Week is a size 2 sweater using Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Bon Bon Print, while also using two rows of Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Shocking Pink.

I started this project on Friday, after I completed the Size 6 sweater (blog post is here). As of writing this post I have finished the sleeves on the front, and will be starting the sleeves on the back here shortly.

I know that I used Shocking Pink and Bon Bon Print in the most recent size 10 sweater I knit up back in July. I am using some of what I had left (3 full skeins of bon bon print and a partial skein of shocking pink) for this sweater, and the rest I am planning on using for hats.

This sweater will easily be done by the end of the week, which will be nice, and then I can move on to other projects I have going, and would like to get done before the end of the year.

Stay tuned for the Completed Project Post which will be coming to you in a few days 🙂
